Here's Magenta, a progressive rock band from Wales, UK. Magenta was formed in 1999 by keyboardist-guitarist Robert Reed (following some previous exploration of progressive rock with Cyan), and features a sound and style reminiscent of classic symphonic prog bands such as Genesis, Yes, Renaissance, and Mike Oldfield, mixed with more modern progressive rock, and also featuring vocals by the dynamic female vocalist Christina Booth (Thus, they fit right in with my recent series featuring female vocalists). Magenta made a splash (in Prog circles) with their first two albums Revolutions (2001) and Seven (2004), earning recognition and awards for their masterful blend of old and new progressive styles. I only recently discovered this band (although I was aware of them, I hadn't actually listened to them until recently) and have been quite impressed with what I have heard from them so far. This show is from 2012 (plus a couple bonus tracks from 2011), which followed their albums Metamorphosis (2008) and Chameleon (2011) and features a nice cross-section of songs from throughout their catalog. It is a good (not great) audience recording (Christina's vocals are a bit low in the mix), but overall, it has well-above average sound and depth, and provides a good introduction to their music. Magenta's most recent albums are We Are Legend (2017) and Masters of Illusion (2020), and are still going strong. So, if you are a fan of 70's symphonic progressive rock (or later prog rock), should definitely check 'em out.
