& The Goners
September 18, 1987

FM Broadcast (KFOG-FM) recording, excellent quality
Available in both Lossless (FLAC) and mp3 (320 kbps) versions
Here's some more from the great John Hiatt, this one a short but wonderful opening set from 1987 (he opened for the Robert Cray Band), and this excellent-sounding FM broadcast recording comes courtesy of one of our blog readers (draftervoi, who specializes in FM broadcast recordings), so much thanks to him for making this available. This show comes shortly after the release of Bring the Family, which became his 'breakthrough' album, after years of struggling to find an audience. Thus this set features several songs from that wonderful album, as well as featuring John with one of his best back-up bands, The Goners. This set also features a rare early song that John never had recorded ('A Crazy Girl is Hard to Find') and a preview of a song from his next album, Slow Turning ('Tennessee Plates'). Overall, a great opening set (although too short!).
